January 1 2008, IEA and the department of Electrical Measurements form a new joint department within LTH.

In January 2012 Dr Mats Lilja took up a position as associate professor at IEA. The main focus areas for Mats involve automation research and teaching at Campus Helsingborg.

In October 2012 Dr Avo Reinap took up a position as associate professor at IEA. The main focus areas for Avo involve design and modelling of electric drives.

NEW: Professor emeritus Gustaf Olsson was awarded the IWA (International Water Association) Honorary Member Award at an official ceremony during the IWA2012 World Water Congress in Busan, Korea, September 2012. At the same conference assoc. prof. Ulf Jeppsson was appointed IWA Fellow. On October 13 Gustaf Olsson received an Honorary Doctorate from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) for "outstanding achievements in water engineering and research".
