Towards a LTH Solar challenge: some experiences from the 1996 race.
Duco W. J. Pulle, associate professor, IEA, LTH

Faced with the inevitable termination of oil within the next fourty years there is a need for engineers to face the challenge of utilizing electrical energy for vehicles. The solar challenge provide a platform where electric vehicles are driven across the Australian continent under extreme environmental conditions. This seminar will discuss the speakers experiences with the last race whereby use is made of a professional video presentation. Furthermore the seminar aims to explore the feasability of LTH participation for the next challenge. It is emphasized that our goal is directed towards creating an energy efficient electrical vehicle capable of winning the university class. The challenge is therefore about showing to the 'outside' world our ability to create such a vehicle.
